Windward Consulting Group, the premier operational management consulting and systems engineering firm, today announced the launch of its configuration management services to help customers develop requirements and architectures, and implement solutions for configuration and change management in network and application infrastructures.
The launch of Windward's configuration management services is a direct response to customer needs and issues that include:
- Budget constraints preventing the deployment of multiple element management systems to manage heterogeneous networks;
- Lack of process to enforce who can make changes to devices, when those changes can be made and the configuration information to roll-back the configuration if needed;
- Lack of centralized information to use as a data-point to determine the root cause of an outage within the network or application environment;
Regulatory requirements, specifically Sarbanes-Oxley, mandating that organizations deploy tracking systems to manage configuration and have the ability to audit changes.
To help customers address these issues, Windward developed a detailed tool-section process that analyzes vendors' back-end database support, scalability, performance, speed to develop support for new devices, and integration into other network management systems. In addition, Windward will utilize best practice processes and procedures around configuration management solutions that will allow customers to rapidly deploy these tools within their environment.
Windward will work with organizations to select and deploy solutions allowing customers to automate and track configuration management across disparate network devices, identify operating system changes and define overall configuration and change management processes and procedures.
